Review highlights
Based on 1,465 reviewsSri Lakshmi Chettinadu Mess is widely recognized for its authentic and flavorful Chettinad non-vegetarian dishes, particularly the chicken biryani and pepper chicken, which receive consistent praise for taste and quality. The restaurant offers affordable pricing, making it a popular choice among locals and tourists alike. Service is generally described as quick and friendly, with staff often noted for their humble and welcoming demeanor. However, the eatery faces challenges with limited space, leading to a congested and crowded atmosphere, especially during peak hours and weekends. Additionally, the absence of dedicated parking is a common concern, with patrons needing to find parking on nearby roads. Despite these drawbacks, the establishment remains a must-visit dining spot in Valparai for its genuine culinary experience.
Never seen a good non veg restaurant at hill stations. Chicken biryani taste is extraordinary. Meals also very good. Service is appreciable. Prices are reasonable. No parking for cars. Parking is very difficult. Ambience is average. Unavoidable restaurant in the Valparai town.
Food was good, especially pepper chicken and service was quick
One of the best restaurants in Valparai providing good food at reasonable rates. The place is a bit conjusted and was very crowded when we visited. May need to wait for few minutes to get a seat on peak hours. We had chicken biriyani and pepper chicken and both were tasty. Parking is not available. Better to park on roadside around 500 metres before/after the restaurant.
One of good restaurant in the locality.Tasty food but congested premise.Crowded all the time. Both veg and non veg food available at reasonable rates. No dedicated parking space available,we have to park vehicle in the roadside.
Its the best place to have good, affordable, nonveg local food in the valparai town. Price is reasonable. Queue can be there during the weekend because of tourists. But you can get a table quickly. The people here including manager and owner are down to earth and humble. They talk nicely with everyone who comes to have food here. You may not find a menu with english language. Just ask what is available. Hard to communicate if you do not know tamil. Biryani was tasty and cheap. Kushka was flavourful. Chettinadu chicken gravy was delicious and veg thali was good too. They have dam fish fry which we do not like, so did not try that. Bill for 4 people came upto 510₹. We also took parcel for night from here which was parotta with chicken curry and kushka later in the evening. Toilet can be maintained better as many tourists would want to use. Please note this.
